My sewing and patternmaking journey started out as a need and not as something I wanted to do. I was newly married and my husband had given me a large amount of money and all day to shop at a large local mall, As someone that dresses or at least tried to Dress as Modest as possible and still wanted to look good, I was so heartbroken when I left the mall at the end of that day. I couldn’t even find a shirt that I liked that wasn’t too short, too tight or something. I made a vow that day that I would learn to sew and never depend on the fashion industry for my clothing needs. That was over 20 years ago in 2001 and in that time sewing has gone from a need to a true passion of mine as well as patternmaking. Now I can spend all day in my studio whipping a item of clothing and be much more happy than a day at the the mall.
I love a mix of both easy and complicated sewing projects. And I hope to share with you the things I have learned over the years and also new things that I continue to learn about it could be a new technique, patternmaking, fitting or even about fabric. My new sewing adventure in a new land, And just the pure joy of sewing. making things with my hands that are unique and special to me. I want us to grow and sew together.
